Lightbulb The Next Guild Wars Title

Hey everyone, I'm new here and I just thought I'd lay out some concepts that I've had in mind for a while now. Ever since Factions was released, I was always interested in what the next title was going to be, if there were going to be anymore. I was suprised to find out that only six months later, Nightfall came out (pretty quick if you ask me). I havn't tried it out yet, but I was hoping that they would include new races to choose from as well as new classes. For example, you could decide first of all to either be human, or centaur (whatever those things are called). Being an artist myself I have a great interest in fantasy, especially when it comes to dragons. They have a few dragon-like monsters in the game, but it would be awesome if Guild Wars would include more realistic dragon creatures that could be involved a lot more.

I've had a few ideas concerning the next title, and as well as including new species to choose from, they should have pets that actually do something. I have the collectors edition of Factions and I have one of those mini chinese dragon things that hover around and just get annoying after awhile. In the new title, they should have pets that can first of all attack enemies. You should also be able to ride them, depending on what it is (eg. you could ride your lynx or fly on your dragon everywhere, breathe fire on people, with of course some exceptions to areas like indoors or over water etc). I know that stuff like this would take a fair bit of time to develop and there would be hundreds of bugs to fix up, but that's expected. As for the next title, it would be interesting to see more anthropomorphic species that you could choose to be as your character. For example, the egyptian god Anubis is a perfect example of an anthropomorphic species, but of course what I would be interested in seeing is a anthro dragon species (inc. all sub-species, like eastern, european etc).

Anywho, that's just me rambling on. I think it's about time Guild Wars should bring it up a notch, include more detail, improve the gameplay and overall intensify the gaming experience. All comments and feedback on these ideas would be greatly apreciated.

Cheers

Ranger pets? Got 'em already.

The GW world wasn't designed for mounts. Most of the explorable areas are just too crowded for them and with instant map travel, they're already obsolete.

As for races, it's always a possibility they will add new races. But I'd expect that the new races would be limited to the new professions of that chapter (the professions might even be limited to that species..) since it would be a major pain for the art team to go back and rework every set of armor for every species.

Also, in theory, the fourth campaign should be closer to completion than conception and the fifth should already be started as well.

I realised that, but it would be fun no?

I agree. It would be a pain, but it's their job. You gotta keep them busy...

I figured they would've already started, seeing how fast Nightfall was released after Factions. I hope they would have at least considered the idea though, I wouldn't be the first one to come up with the idea for new species and whatever.

Actually, hate to say it, but it isn't their job to go back and rework every profession from previous games. They've already said they're not going to do anything with Prophecies or Factions anymore.

However, that said, since it looks like the next game isn't coming till the second half of the year, maybe that is what they're working on. Personally I'm hoping they're working on the game itself, not just aesthetic race choices, because I've never been interested in being a different race just because I want to be. If the different races have different impacts on the storyline, that would be cool. But if it's purely for looks, then I don't care for it.

Ah right, I didn't consider about reworking on things from previous games. If they were to have new races, it should purely be for the next title, and the previous games should be left unaffected. Also, if they were to have new races, they should be smart with how they design the storyline. Just like in Factions, whatever side you choose can change the way you play the game.

No, rangers get animal companions, not pets.

If I took my dog into battle, I'd sure as hell would not be unable to do nothing for ten seconds(however long it is) when she gets slaughtered...(that may have to many negatives, i'm not sure, but I think it gets the point acrost)

We all know what the OP was talking about. I imagine some sort of skill less constant pet that is more similar to a necro's minion.

But I'll not sign that under any circumstance, because a party of 8 people with mini pets that actually do damage, would be overpowered, and while that may be taken into account for the new chapter, existing chapters will just get easier and easier.
